June 1, 2002 — Chestnut Ridge, Westmoreland County, PA
Chestnut Ridge has always been one of Pennsylvania’s most active Bigfoot sighting corridors, so we returned to the area for a day hike and evidence sweep. While moving through a wooded section of the ridge, we came across a set of unknown prints impressed into soft ground.
Because we were hiking light that day, we didn’t have a measuring tape with us. The only item we had for scale was a pack of cigarettes, which we photographed next to the prints. Even without exact measurements, the impressions were larger than a typical man’s boot, with a shape that didn’t match any footwear we were familiar with.
Could they have been oversized boot prints? Possibly. But the size, depth, and shape were unusual enough that we classified them as “Unknown Prints.” The area has a long history of sightings and strange activity, so any unusual track is worth documenting.
